Top mistakes when talking to a recruiter
- Clueless about the Company: Before you have a conversation with a recruiter, do your research! LinkedIn is your best friend here. Find out what the company does, who they are, and why they're cool (think: cool projects, awesome office vibes). This shows you're actually interested, not just spraying resumes everywhere.

- Fake It 'til You Make It (Not!): Be yourself! Recruiters can sniff out a phony a mile away. Focus on your unique skills and experiences that make you the perfect fit. These two emails will show you the difference between getting hired & rejected.
- Robot Talk: Ditch the fancy words that would confuse your grandma. Speak clearly and keep it short and sweet. Don't read it from a scripted answer. Recruiters can tell! Write down the key points of your story, but tell it like you would to a friend. Aim for 2-3 minute answers, tops. Practice with a friend who doesn't understand your field of study – they'll help you ditch the jargons.
- Putting Yourself Down: Don't be shy about things you're still learning. Recruiters love a growth mindset! Talk about what you're working on to improve, not what you're missing.
